Types of Skin Conditions

Skin problems do not only constitute prolonged exposure to the sun and are not always diet or lifestyle related. There are also a number of skin conditions and skin diseases that may lead to skin damage and unhealthy skin.

Inflammatory Skin Diseases/Disorders

When the skin is irritated regardless of the causative agents, the initial reaction is inflammation. Aside from inflammation, lesions, rashes, blisters and redness are some of the signs of skin irritation. Some of the known inflammatory skin conditions are acne, the very common and well know skin inflammatory condition. Dermatitis or eczema, diaper rash, psoriasis and sebaceous cysts are other inflammatory conditions that your skin might have.

Viral Infections

Viral skin problems and conditions obviously come from the invasion of various viruses into the body causing manifestations in the skin such as macules, popules and blisters. Chicken pox is the foremost that sometimes leaves permanent marks on the skin. Herpes is another disease that comes in 2 types, type 1 and type 2. Measles and warts are other disease conditions caused by viruses.

Bacterial Infections

Bacterial invasion also caused the skin to manifest signs like rashes, pimples and inflammation. Folliculitis and impetigo are some of the common bacterial skin conditions that may infect your skin.

Skin Cancer

Skin cancers are another form deadly skin condition. There are three recognized types of skin cancer namely melanoma, carcinoma and basal cell cancer. Basal cell cancer is a condition that is very common and involves the upper layer of the skin. Carcinoma involves the mid-layer of the skin and melanoma, which is the most dangerous and a more complicated type of cancer. It involves destruction of the skin cells that takes care of the skin's pigmentation.

Fungal Infections

Fungal infection is another common skin condition. Primary caused by fungi which thrive most on dead skin cells. Athlete's foot is the most common among all fungal infection, acquired by the mixed dirt and moisture of the foot ware.
